Lennon was also greatly influenced by Stockhausen. HYMNEN was Lennon's inspiration for REVOLUTION #9 on the Beatles' White Album. Rock musicians such as Frank Zappa, Peter Townshend, Jerry Garcia and Bjork name Stockhausen as a major influence on their musical lives and work. Whether it was deliberate or not, once people are convinced that what they are seeing really were the Beatles, it makes sense that Columbia would airbrush out the images .

I don't know about anyone else, but I have always had difficulty in seeing the pix of the beatles on the JWH album sleeve - they are so indistinct that the images could be anyone. Everytime this comes up, I do a cursory (but useless) search for a decent scan of that album. One would think that after all this time a detail would show up. I believe more firmly in the ghost images xxMary sees in photos, than I do that album cover.

It is however, probably my favorite.
