UNRAVELLED TALES
A new deluxe two-disc set from the Hollow Horn “Encore” series, that follows up it’s earlier release of the complete Town Hall 1963 performance with the equally exciting release of the complete performance from the legendary show at the Carnegie Hall in New York City on 26 October 1963. While the bulk of this show has appeared gradually over the last few years, this release features not only the five songs that have not circulated previously but the whole concert in order with all of the many introductions and stories complete and in best ever sound quality. The packaging, in common with the earlier STOLEN MOMENTS set is a gatefold mini-album sleeve incorporating a six page booklet.

DISC ONE: THE TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN’; THE BALLAD OF HOLLIS BROWN; WHO KILLED DAVEY MOORE?; BOOTS OF SPANISH LEATHER; TALKIN’ JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY BLUES; LAY DOWN YOUR WEARY TUNE; BLOWIN’ IN THE WIND; PERCY’S SONG; SEVEN CURSES; WALLS OF RED WING

DISC TWO:NORTH COUNTRY BLUES; A HARD RAIN’S A GONNA FALL; TALKIN’ WORLD WAR THREE BLUES; DON’T THINK TWICE, IT’S ALRIGHT; WITH GOD ON OUR SIDE; ONLY A PAWN IN THE GAME; MASTERS OF WAR; THE LONESOME DEATH OF HATTIE CARROLL; WHEN THE SHIP COMES IN

Ah but is it ethical to download it from mininova?????????????????

It's mp3 format. Hope it will turn up lossless.

Me to, I might go ahead and download it and then buy Hollow when I can afford it. I hate ethics.

And about the ethics. I think this is a matter of love and theft.

The cover photo bothers me, and I just figured out why. It looks like Harry Connick Jr in that picture. Something's just wrong looking about it. Maybe he just looks half baked, I dunno. It's probably just me.

Ha ha ! Yes, it's actually from photos by John Cohen at his NYC appartment - early 1962
However, the original black n white is better - this cover shot has been tinted !

Will upload the Cohen !

Thank you Stew! That would be terrific.

The tinting doesn't bother me too much, but it's a little squashed. I noticed that when I put the scans of the cover artwork into iTunes, there was room on either side that shouldn't have been: it's almost 1/2" too narrow ( proportional to a CD Jacket). Widening the image made it look like Bob again. smiling smiley
But I'm a whinger.

Kudos to Smiley for going to all the hard work. (thumbsup)

PS - Important Note at HUNGER CITY torrents -

This is the Hollow Horn (commercial bootleg) version of the Carnegie Hall 1963 Dylan concert that only recently surfaced in its entirety; despite the presence of a number of officially released tracks, this is a performance that certainly merits being freely torrented.

Eddiethcat commented in a personal message:
"Not sure what you will think of it, I am very dissapointed. They have used all the available official track and edited in those missing from the new source. I find it very disjointed and the sound varies."

There is another version of the show circulating that is said to be from the master tape that Hollow Horn used and is said to lack the editing done by Hollow Horn. If no one else has uploaded this alternative version by tomorrow, i will put it up. (I have been having some troubles on my own recent torrents and am unsure whether the same problems will recur if i do the upload.

So...isn't it about time we had some discussion about the music?

I've been waiting for this show for ages. I'm just over half way through listening so far and it's fantastic.

I like Don't Think Twice, quite an unusual vocal treatment but to be honest I don't think that this show is as good as Town Hall 63 but its miles better than the 64 Halloween gig
Re: Complete Carnegie Hall 1963 surfaces via Hollow Horn

I agree it's better than 31/10/1964. I think 1963 was the peak of his acoustic years. By 1964 he'd become too knowing, and that wonderful voice was turning harsh and hard (Another Side...) , and his attitude a bit too knowing and cynical.

That's not to be over-critical of 1964; this is all relative. Bob in '64 is better than most artists' lifetime acheivement.

I think there is a cynicism to the Bob of 1964, he was already tiring of performing solo acoustic I suspect, that is not to say that I don't like it, sometimes a bit of cynicism can confront you with a lot of truth

I think this is the concert when Bob Dylan became DYLAN. Its well constructed, its all his own work, he's relaxed,he knows he has cracked it and he's happy........by 64 he was being forced away from his NY roots, he was a SOMEBODY..bigger than The Mayor. It must have been a peculiar time for him........I don't see him as cynical, just clinical...he was doing a chore and his Bootheels were begging to be wandering and stomping to the beat in his head.......Another Side is a Rock Album..........the 2 Carnegies are GREAT albums.

And thanks Jackobob..that was a real out louf LOL.
